Yup, another heater prob.
« on: 20 December 2007, 08:27:16 »

So, my girlfriend is complaining (justifiably) that the cabin heater isn't working at all well in our Omega.  It's a '96 2.0 without aircon, and I'm sure it used to work better.

I have drained some coolant a couple of times recently while doing various jobs, but it's fully topped up, and not losing any significant amount.

Water pump was replaced in late summer when cam belt was done.

I've read a lot about HBVs on here, but I can't find one on this car  :-[.
Where should I be looking?

Haynes describes a hideous sounding mess of solenoids and vac pipes behind the dash associated with the heater, but I'm hoping I don't have to get into that...

Thanks for reading, and Merry Whatsit to all.

Ah, thanks mate!

That won't be the problem then...

I'm wondering if it's the coolant thermostat stuck open now, as 'she' takes quite a while to warm up, 85°C seems to be the max we've seen on the gauge recently which sounds low to me.
