MV6 Wheel Alignment / Tracking
« on: 18 September 2008, 11:54:42 »

My mig has worn down the front tyres onto the inside edge so obviously the tracking needs doing there is a local competent garage nr Kington who i trust enough to let them near the car!

anyway will they know the cars proper settings or will they set it to 0 as i am fairly sure reading on here somewhere that the MV6 has a deliberate toe in?

You need a full alignment including camber and toe front and rear at the minimum as the wear is likely related to excessive camber. Even then, if they just set it "in the green" it probably won't resolve the problem because the limits on most alignment machines are too wide.

Ideally, a trip to wheels in motion is required.

Edited to say: As an interim step, a touch of toe-in is probably a good idea and setting the front camber to 1o10' - 1o15' should be relatively safe.

Most machines have front camber limits up at 2'30 or so, which can still leave you with a big wear problem so get them to adjust it regardless of whether it's inside or outside the limits.

Yep. Well worth a visit. They're not that far from Bracknell.

Worth booking it up in advance though. :y

I've emailed Tony today to try and get booked in for about 10 days time.
I know the rear camber is well out, it's actually visible although I only noticed after I'd spotted the wear on the rear tyres >:( >:(

Just as well I was planning to replace them anyway as they're only cheap, part worn snow tyres!
