Should you be able to hear air through the breather box on plenum when ticking over .I ask this because of my car running poorly .no codes with paperclip and a garage code reader thankyou

A quick way of checking for vac/intake leaks is to lightly spray carb cleaner in the affected area whist the engine is running, if/when the engine note changes it means the cleaner has been "drawn in" to the system and is being burned... you have now found the leak ..  just needs a little more spraying to pinpoint it .

Once you've done this , wipe the whole area down with paper towel and you have a diagnosed problem AND a nice clean engine  ..
