check oil level

dears,
can you help me about the symptom of a clause appears on display of my omega 2.2 says "check oil level"
what does it mean and what may the reason be?

As the warning says really, check your oil level and top up if neccessary :y

GM say 'allow 5 minintes' after engine has been switched off, then check dip stick. Always keep the oil level up to the maximum. Long uphill stretches on motorways can cause the oil to flow to the back of the sump ie away from the 'oil sensor'.

It could be that your oil level sensor needs replacing. But obviously check oil levels first.

You can get this if the oil level is around 1/2 between min and max, so keep level in upper half.

Could also be a switch failure, more common if the car has a poor oil service history.
