Indeed, I have been prone to such moments in the past  :D

Now, the IACV. I am starting to suspect that. How are they tested? I disconnected mine with engine running and noticed no real difference.

I have just been to check all connections, they all seem fine.

Well I shall do plugs when I have some money then. Go from there.

Some more points of note. The speedo now works every time. Not sure the fuel light does though.

Another thing, on taking it for road tests I've noticed it feels very unstable. Very loose and not at all like it's planted to the road. I'm not sure if this is tramlining as I've never experienced it but something about the way the car drives is very disconcerting.

If the car feels unstable it's worth getting the geometry checked out - WIM (Wheels in Motion) are thoroughly recommended, I've been there myself and they do a great job (with a discount for OOFers - about £65 if I remember correctly).

Possibly still leads and/or DIS pack but...

Went to remove DIS pack today so I know which one it is. Got half way there and no matter what I tried I just couldn't get anything on the bolts so I gave up.

All back together and I noticed that at first (cold engine) it idles fine, slightly fast which I think is normal with SAI anyway. As it warms up it starts to get lumpy. Anyway I left it running and went to wash my hands and on returning I find it idling nice and smooth. Blip the throttle and on returning to idle starts to run rough again.

Anyway, I have no more money this month to spend on it or anything else for that matter so will have to wait til payday. Just thought that todays observations may shed some more light on what is the problem.
IIRC you need a long reach 8mm socket :y

right, first point, mine tramlines abit, but my gsi 3000 24v did, my senator also. i had the first two checked made no difference, wide tyres will follow the roads camber. if the road has got repairs any car will, but i know what you mean. mines had 2 new arms, 2 front bearings, been set up, still the same (car is straight as the lazers lined up). its odd. have you got goodyears fitted?
second have two new dispacks here, will fit one by one till misfire cured, when i find the bad one will bin, the good one can be used on here to replace a suspect.
i have no misfire codes but i know its doing it as it feels exactly like my gsi when it played up.
