Which water pipe would this be?
« on: 22 October 2009, 20:17:40 »

I was trying to work out which water pipe was causing the problems and does it really need an engine out job to fix it?

what ever pipe is failed its never £300 to fix. Only if its a heater matrix, but that does not take water to the back of the engine.

Easy option - HBV - cheapo fix and its back on the road

Slightly harder option - Coolant Bridge, easy to strip down that far, get part of a breaker, again real easy fix

It'll be the large stainless pipe I saw MarksDTM remove from Craig's car ....... I couldn't really tell you where it runs from to cos I've never had need to know on my car - somewhwere from the passenger side to the driver's via the front of the block.  ::) It's the labour rate that's going to bump the price up ..... £300 is still probably too much though.

From the back of the block (possibly from the well that the oil cooler sits in) it bends round and runs over the drivers side exhaust manifold. The radiator bottom hose connects to the front of it. One of the 3 hoses to the expansion tank comes off the top of it.

Being good quality stainless steel it is the one part of the Omega that is least likely to corrode and it is hard as nails.

I cannot remember whether it uses a gasket or on 'O' ring at the back of the block but that seal is the only part of it I can imagine causing trouble.

Being hard then means it's capable of cracking.  :y  :y  ;)
