Another Miss problem
« on: 21 November 2009, 23:10:14 »

Had a look through various miss fire posts but can't seem to see one that similar to my problem so her goes:
Have a 3.0V6 which under normal conditions drives as it should, but every so often she will start missing, seems to happen under load, thought at 1st it could be the auto box but has even had its miss when in neutral and just revving it.  When it clears...she then  goes
Any ideas?

Will the paper clip test work?
Is there a correct way to do it on this engine?

Yes. If no codes, plugs first, cheapest and will show oil in the plug wells in the process, then leads then dis pac in order of pita to change.

Will check the codes and plugs later on today.  What would it mean if there is oil in the plug well?

Finally got round to checking the plugs....Well 3 of them!!  These are certanly past there best.
But they are full of oil?  I have seen this mentioned before what 's the cause of this?
Also weather its related or not I am getting engine light on as well, on intermitantly could this just be down to the miss fire?

Cam gaskets gone.

This tells you how to replace them. Not a difficult DIY job.  :y
