Me too have noticed the smell of burning rubber coming from under the car while the snow has been down, but just put that down to tyres spinning. :-/

So is your smell coming from the back then cos mine is from the front  :-/
I could smell it coming from the front, which is a mystery coming to think of it now. :-/

Someone on OOF recently posted re this - to do with salt mixture burning on cats.  Have to say noticed it with both ours - both have newish aux belts and tensioners.  Belt and all pulleys not unduly hot after a run but smell definately stronger down by both front wheels.

Will try & find other post when i get home.

Thanks

Interesting thread, although doesn't appear to be the same problem to me.

I'm liking this theory!

Is it almost a rubbery type smell? If so, it might be spray from the road on the exhaust. Don 't know if it's the salt they're using, but I've noticed this recently when it's wet / slushy.

If Traction controls attempts to prevent wheel spin by applying the brake to the slipping driven wheel, I wonder if it's hot brake brake pads at the back ............   :-/  :-/

Good point. They may well get hot with extended use of the TC.  :y

My smell was coming off the wet exhaust for sure. Notice it in the Westfield too. But then it didn't smell like friction material anyway.

Thought TC cut power to the engine, switch it off on grass and nail the throttle, sounds like a misfire.  Or am I wrong as it was in the 1st week I had my GLS about 3 years ago now when I tried mine.
