common failure, check maintenance guide section for details, get decent Vx part, don't bother with cheap patterns

no real problems just get a full one not just the idler, its held on by 2 bolts, and take of the joint comes off easy with the right tools. price varies from £30 -£60 for a full one. but get a proper one not a copy.

This is the part I've just fitted, delivered quickly as well.

Yes easy enough job, when you've bashed the hell out of the b****y thing with a sodding great lump hammer, to get the joint apart :-[
Don't use a ball joint splitter on that knuckle joint, some say two hammers will do the trick top and bottom. Soak in plus gas overnight if poss before attempting :y

Hi,Just a quick update, failed to part the ball joint after a few hours of trying everything.
So I bit the bullet and found a garage to do it,cost £15 so I was quite happy with that,so retest in the morning, and then of to Brean in the van for the weekend.

That's the tapered joint from hell!

I always give it a good clout by hitting it hard with two hammers simultaneously.
Haven't failed yet mate!
