2.5 td fault code help req.
« on: 20 March 2010, 22:05:28 »

Having done the paperclip test on my 96 2.5 td this evening it gave me a 64,91 and 92. The car takes a few turns to start whether hot or cold, so i am going to inspect and clean the fuel pump and swirl pot tomorrow, and hope this clears the 64. As for the cruise control, i was going to replace the stalk, and go from there.
Any ideas?

64 - tin of diesel magic in the fuel filter, see if that helps

Agree, 91 and 92 are cruise related so I'm guessing you don't have cruise control or your stalk is breaked.

EDIT: Where are you matey?

Thanks for the replies. The car has a cruise control stalk, so i am hoping a replacement will sort it, as it will come in handy when towing my mk1 escort on the motorway.. I am going to give the car a thorough going over and service so will try diesel magic when i change the fuel filter, but i am going to strip the pump down anyway.

If it`s an auto you`ll need to upgrade the box to an AR35 if you`re gonna chip it

The car is manual. I believe the rain has fooked off now, so i will be doing some serious investigation/servicing in the morning. Fuel pump is top of the list.

Before you do your fuel pump, get a couple of replacement jubilee clips ready...  When I did mine, I had those stupid clips that clip onto themselves and a pain to reclip...
