Overheating problem - reason found
« on: 09 May 2010, 13:19:53 »

Hi all,

I've got to the bottom of why my "new" Elite was overheating.

The impeller on the waterpump had come off the shaft, so basically it wasn't turning  :y

A real sense of achievement I can tell you. Aux belt tensioner was also knackered - so that will be sorted on re-assembly.

That cambelt DVD came in really handy I can tell you. :y

Thanks guys ............ Rob

Good for you! ;) It's a great feeling to fix it yourself & deny the 'stealers' a slice of your hard earned isnt it?  ;D :y

I'm pretty sure I may have suggested it in a previous post. I've seen it happen twice in all the years I've had greasy hands. Very rare but often springs to my mind with over heating problems shortly after thinking are there any fins left on the impeller ;D

The impeller was 100% intact and in good condition - it was made of Brass actually.

It had simply worked loose on the shaft - so as the shaft was rotated the slightest of resistance made it stop .......
