I have just heard from a mechanic friend of a friend that a fault in the coil packs can spike the ECU and cause terminal damage.

Is is true?  I am reluctuant to spend a couple of hunderd on parts just to find the ECU needs replaced!

Is nothing simple with the Omega!  I hope I have bought the right car!  Begining to wish I had gone Audi!

You wont get the support on the Audi forum that you'll find here.

To answer your question, no, imo. But plod do tend to bugger about with electrics alot, there have been some 135 bank unexplaned miss fires on the 3.2. and 2.6 But first port of call has to be coil pack i woukd think?

idealy borrow a known good one, maybe from a member here?

Lol Audis can have problems of their own. I recently bought and fitted a 2nd hand coil pack - has given no problems. When you do the gaskets - make sure you get the breathers cleaned too - then you'll have no more bother with this! There is a guide on this site how to do it.

Thanks to you both!  I really like the Omega, its a bit different and I love the rwd, uncompromised handling.

New OE coil packs and plugs just been deliverd to work.  If the gaskets (OE) are there when I get home I should have it back together tonight.

Fingers crossed!

Thanks again!

Oh, and I will make sure all breathers are cleaned out!

Guys

She seems to be sorted!  Running really smooth and pulling well.  New Rocker Cover Gaskets, O rings, Plugs and OE Coil packs.

Thanks to all who have given me the advice on this post!  I hope she runs problem free for a while!  Get my confidence back!

Thanks again

Hi Folks

Ok, I did the strip down today and ordered the gaskets, o rings and plugs.

Do you think its worth getting 2nd hand coil packs or going for new ones?  I dont know the price difference but would appreciate your views on best practice for a long term solution!

I dont want to be stirpping this down again soon!

Does anybody know where the best/cheapest place is to get new/used coil packs?

Thanks

Dave

£75 new off Ebay - look like OEM - same markings but a lot cheaper.
