I am fitting new pads to hers tonight, and gonna bleed the brakes too.

Now the pedal has never been as firm as mine...

Is it worth activating the ABS pump during the bleed in case of air in the system, or is it not worth it, or could it do more harm than good?

Well, new pads fitted, brakes all bled (without activating abs pump)

Pedal rock solid engine off, spongy engine on.  (as it was before)

did got lots of air bubbles out when I was bleeding, which was slow progress as my easy bleed is no longer airtight apparently 
So frequent tyre reinflates needed to maintain the trickle of old fluid.

I'd have thought that having the ABS pump running would split any air bubbles into many smaller bubbles due to the pressure and the way the pump works. If you're stuck I've got an easibleed you can borrow to have another go

I know if you get air in the ABS unit...running the ABS unit while bleeding is the cure.

Dont know what the symptoms of air in the ABS unit are though  :-/

Dont mine buying another easybleed, there not too dear, but cheers for the offer.

The brakes work well enough, but am aware the pedal could be better.

may get another easy bleed and chuck a couple of litres through it
got a feeling it may be a master cylinder issue though

What are the backs of the discs like? I had a springy pedal on mine & assumed it was a bleeding problem. When I saw the back of the discs were fubar'd I replaced them. The pedal feel improved no end.

Symptoms are that initially the brake pedal feels normal as the brakes start to 'bite' then the pedal starts to sink without any extra braking effect noticable
