Brake pad sensor

I was told by the fitter who changed my pads last year that my '02 2.6 V6 has only one pad sensor on the nearside. Can anyone confirm that this is the case?

If it is, then I have a small problem. The sensor was fubared and, as neither he nor I had a spare, he tied the cable back.

I now have a replacement sensor, but have yet to fit it. However, I have recently started to get a "Brake Pad" message displayed on the MID. It comes and goes. I know the pads are not worn right down and  that the sensor is tied back securely (just checked). What could be causing this fault?  :-?

on car your age there is only one sensor  :y

How was it taped back? the wires must be stripped back, and be made to touch to close the loop. If they come apart, the error will come back  :y

what was done with the actual sensor? was it cut off and had wires tied together?

No, from what I can see it has the remains of what looks like (but I know isn't) a rusty spade terminal.

No, from what I can see it has the remains of what looks like (but I know isn't) a rusty spade terminal.

buy a new one, plug it in & clip it to the pad.

Got a new one here. Just need to find a minute to put it on. I assume it's very straightforward.

The sensor has a 'peg' that's split in 4 & just clips into the butterfly shaped anti-rattle spring of the pad via the hole in the caliper.  :y
