 :)Lately some stretches of road & temporary roadworks have introduced average speed cameras. I'm no scholar but i know what an average is unlike many "drivers" who race up to the cameras, brake, race off again, then wonder why the letter/summons drops on the doormat. The point is, if the "authorities" wanted to dispel the speed camera revenue/safety debate, why not install average speed cameras on every A road upwards so eventually no one could speed without getting caught? Cameras are HGV/car sensitive now so i'd have to spend more time @ 40mph, where cars can legally do 60.
     Safety/Revenue.  :-/

why not take them all down(unless outside a school),teach everyone to drive safely(which isnt the same as slowly)and then we can have some freedom of choice back in this nanny state.

Because, clearly, that would mean Big Brother is real and on your roads... D'uh!

...oh wait.... uhmmm... OK I think I've got it now...

I'm just waiting for the police to commendeer all the traffic master cameras!  (blue ones on poles / gantrys on major roads)

IIRC they read you numberplate every xxx yards to work out average speed for the hold up signals to be sent.  Surely wouldnt take much reengineering to link this to automatically get you for speeding!

Well I tried out something suggested by a well known forum member, which was to change lanes with the average speed cameras, done it on the M25 and nothing has popped through my door yet :-/

with the average speed cameras ,you can go as fast as you like after you pass the first one as long as you slow down or stop for a while before you reach the second,you wont get there any quicker but you might have more fun !

This is exactly what Clarkson suggested on an episode of Top Gear, zoom along at 120 MPH past the first camera, then pull in and have a cup of tea before zooming back off at 120 MPH past the second

Nah they only read the front number plate so I don't bother stopping for any tea
