Hi all, i have a 3.0 elite and i have a knocking sound from the near side front when going along rough road or over speed humps. Any ideas of what this could be? thanks for reading, help appreaciated.

Hello,

Mine does the same thing (or at least similar), knocks when you turn the wheel or go over rumble strips. I've replaced the drop links, steering idler and both tie rods, but to no avail, infact it is gradually getting worse. Wishbones or the steering rack its-self are my next considered culprits.

The Omega doesn't have a rack, its a steering box

I have also replaced all track rod ends, steering idler arm and the shaft that it comes of; i have forgotten what it is called and the problem is still there of course. An independant mechanic suspects it may be suspension mounts? thanks for all your replies.

They look nasty to replace (wishbones), but as your mechanic advises, they could be the problem. There is a good 'how to do it' on this site, which I will refer to closely to change mine. Then its that 'steering box' as I stand corrected, to look at. Though little info here on that bit.
