2.2dti clutch
« on: 12 October 2010, 14:24:54 »

my 2003 omega 2.2dti elite has now covered 160,000 and the clutch seems to be starting to give up the ghost , i am in vauxhall tradeclub and they tell me clutch will be £ 200.00 plus vat . How much should i expect to pay for fitting and is it a difficult job . regards mike

Sounds about right for the clutch as it includes the slave cylinder and thrust bearing as one piece. I normally charge around £100 and takes about 4 1/2 hours :y

thanks for the info very much appreciated, but this morning whilst having 2 rear tyres fitted a mechanic told me that the flywheel may also need to be replaced , is this correct as i believe they are about £ 300.00, regards mike

If you buy one from Vx! They're around the £150 mark. Do you get any funny noises with the engine running and your foot down on the clutch? Metallic clank or clack noises?

no noises at all , i bought the car 3 years ago with 34000 miles on from vauxhall main dealer , it now has 160,000 and has never missed a beat , the only reason i am asking is that the clutch pedal seems to feel different than it normaly does , ie not as springy on the return , regards mike

That'll be because the pressure plate is weakening with age. Your DMF (flywheel) should be fine. So not as expensive as you thought then ;)

UPDATE- clutch pedal is now staying down and only comes back up when i pull it back with my foot , also contacted local vauxhall dealer ( bristol st motors ) about price for a dmf ( flywheel ) and they quoted over £ 1000.00 plus clutch at £ 200.00 all plus vat and fitting , so if you know of a flywheel as i believe they are all made by luk  for £150.00 please let me know , regards mike
