External Temp Sensor Fault?
« on: 13 February 2011, 08:59:12 »

Hi,

I have a fault with external temp sensor on my MV6. It seems to count down to about -40c then shows F on the display. It then seems to reset itself to about 1c and then does it again.

I though it may be a sensor fault so I had it replaced by my dealer (£28) but that has not had any effect.

What else could be wrong?

Thanks!

ouch!  they are only £6 and 2 seconds to fit!!!!

if not the sensor, then normally the wiring back from it has failed.
more important than some people think as the climate control needs it to work properly

as jimbob says check the wiring back to the 4pin connector sited passenger side under bumper up towards the headlight, could be dirty contacts or chaffed wiring  :y , the connector also does your front fogs are they working?

Will give the cabling a check.

Vauxhall charged £22 for the part and only £6 to fit. No too bad.

The dealer said it might be the Air-con ECU has failed. Is that a possibility?

The dealer is talking ballcocks >:( ;)

It will be a problem with the wiring/connectors.  :y

the sensor is roughly £6 fitting is acase of unclipping old sensor and clipping in new one approx 10 seconds  >:(  not difficult at all  :y
check wiring and connector before worrying about anything else, the fault is most likely to be there  :y
wonders "how much they want to charge for a air-con ecu if the charge £28 for sensor:o
