Which Factory spec? & can I find out ?
« on: 06 March 2011, 18:54:15 »

hi everyone,
is it possible somehow, if Reg. no. is given,  to find out which spec a particular car had when it left the factory?

I am still confused as to the exact model that I have.

I posted several questions recently as to it being a W plate 3.0 Elite MV6.  as it is badged Elite on the front doors.

Some Replies seemed to think this was indeed possible ,others did not.

some details follow as to what the car has:

1.Leather seats heated & with memory  ( but not "Recaro" type - these seem the same as were fitted to my mini face lift '99 Elite

2. bose sound system, NCDC 2013 & on board colour sat nav :y

3. wood effect trim on doors, around NCDC 2013 & in centre console :y :y

4.  Electric mirrors, sunroof, windows :y

5. Xenon headlights :y

Strangely - there is a switch for the rear blind to the left of the 2013 but a blind  is not fitted :-/ :-/ :-/

It says only MV6 on the V5 .

So just wondering if anyone knows if there is a way of finding what it came out the factory as - or maybe extras have been fitted by someone.

TIA     Big Al :y :y :y

Factory wise.

NOT a special.
Sunroof
leather memory seats
wood trim
self levelling
cruise
bose
satnav
rear sunshade
lettering - ELITE

all elite stuff, nothing to push towards mv6 at all.

nothing about lowererd chassis, just double checked, looks to me to be standard elite, with error on logbook (not unusual)

That might be it then.  but ride is firmer & handling seems much better than my previous miniface lift 99 elite,

Suppose we had better call it an elite then ! ::) ::) ::)

certainly seems to be to me,

nothing to say a previous owner hasnt upgraded bits....

try and get part numbers / ident tags off shocks and springs, may give a fuller picture of its later life :y

BigAl.  As per our previous correspondence, like me, you have the an early 3.0 Elite with the LSC (lowered sports chassis) because of which they had to register the car as a MV6 for insurance reasons. The sports setup normally requires a higher insurance level.

Everything you have, I have also EXCEPT, it sounds like someone has nicked your rear blind and changed the rear parcel shelf for some reason.

In my case I was left with the rear blind BUT some previous owner, the bugger, had nicked the SatNav, Radio and BOSE amp.

Why the hell people chop and change integral bits of some of these Elites is beyond me.

Mine had self levelling also initially, I changed it to the standard shocks a few weeks ago.

Elites with the LSC had to be registered as the MV6.
Wasn't an error, they just had to be for insurance/registration purposes.

I realised something was "odd" about my Elite within 24 hrs of purchase as the ride was more like my old VectraSri and so, was a bit disappointed when comparing her to my preface lift CD, but now a year on, I love it.

Sri type handling in a much bigger and more powerfull car with a lot more "presence" on the road.
