Mig MID in an Astra?
« on: 29 March 2011, 13:21:13 »

Hello all, I,m going through the painful process of stripping my miggy and selling the bits via the 'bay. I've had a problem with a chap from Turkey who bought my MID/TID which was working fine when I removed it. He sent me a picture of it with pixels missing from the time and the range saying F miles. He's since sent it back but I have no means of testing it. I want to test it because he allegedly put it into an astra and thats what came up, so the question is (eventually) will an Omega MID work in an astra? Or any other Vauxhall for that matter?
Cheers  :-?

MIDs all have programs on to state what car they are in.

I dont know if the part numbers are compatable, but they need reprogramming just going between different omegas - the have auto / manual, headlamp type, engine size, wheel diameter.  and  all programmed with one 3 digit code using tech2.

So, even if pin compatable, I wouldnt expect reliable results without programming.

Just looked in EPC - so so many displays for the Astra, plus a few for the omega, unlikely to be compatable.

Range F will come up if its Box is different, so guessing yours was an Auto and the Astra is a Manual.

But as Jimbob says, will need reconfiguring anyway to suit the Car.

Mine was a manual, before the clutch went. He's still maintaining he was sold a faulty item and is now trying to claim his return postage off me. He's having none of it and is saying that I sold him an item with a damaged lead. I can think of choice words to say about him but won't!  >:( >:(

I take it he's trying to claim via Paypal. I would tell Ebay/Paypal the item was advertised for an Omega and he's tried to fit it in an Astra.
