13th Service and MOT
« on: 25 January 2008, 09:13:02 »

The Omega has gone in for its 13th service and an MOT today at my local Vx stealer.  Here's to hoping that they don't find too much that needs fixing - last year's bill was a little high for my liking, despite the cambelt and rollers being done.

Yep, I use a dealer.  I have to say I am seriously not technically minded about cars and I just don't have the time and equipment to do a lot of work myself.

So, I take the financial hit and put money aside to keep the care on the road.

Having said that, when the Vx stealer does do some work and it fails, they generally have no issue with raising a warranty case with Vx.

I guess over time running the car hasn't been cheap, as just about everything that does fail on the Omega has!

And many dealers know that, and use it to their (financial) advantage  >:(

Thats dealer servicing for you, virtually every dealer out there does not do a thorough job.  Possibly finding a (cheaper) Vauxhall specialist may be a better option?

I buy the parts from the vx dealer, but never let them do any work on it....anymore  :-X

I either do the job myself or if I dont know how to/think its to complicated or its cold/raining/cant be bothered ...... I take it to a local backstreet garage (with the vx parts, which they have no problem with me supplying)....which I have found to be very good and go out of their way to help....even to point of working on your car past closing time just so you can get it back.......and are a damn sight cheaper than the vx dealer  :y

I think I got off lightly this time in terms of the overall price.  However the pain was the fact that I was running on the 15" spare and apparently it's an MOT failure to have different size tyres on the same axle.  So I end up buying a dirt cheap tyre just to get through the MOT.

And to cap it all one shock absorber is leaking oil, as is the rear differential...
