is there any benefit in the newer oil filter type and housing on v6's as opposed to the earlier 'screw on' type? i've got a lot of the older filters sitting here and the new engines i have are the newer type with the oil filter housing (and the more expensive filters!) so i was considering converting the new type to the old type but didnt know if there were any particular benefits to keeping the newer type?

longer service interval is about it I believe.

Keep meaning to swap mine for the old one - dont like the new style....but havent got around to it

thanks jim. longer service interval? hmn offset against the increased cost of the newer filter i think i'll stick with the old type

i suppose it doesnt really matter though if you're changing the oil every few thousand miles e.g. before official service interval is due like many of us do.
