This is starting to do my head in now, Engine running push the rear fog lamps switch, light flashes once on the dash and it latches a relay behind drivers air vent, you can now open the boot with the engine running, this condition seems to stay like this untill you switch the lights on and off or remove the key. Same deal with Headlights on the only difference is the Rear Fog Dash blub stays on, again boot switch now works with the engine running.
Still no joy with volts getting to the rear Fogs though, trying to work out why the Police would wire up a system like this?, I know there was a Gun Cabinet in the boot behind the rear seats, because of the holes left, pressed marks on the carpet and a load of left over shells.
The Drivers rear fog lamp is wired separately which seems to disappear towards the dash area. Theres no fuse 28 its been disconnected (fog tail lamp), fuse 2 is in place and working and I seem to have fuse 8 in place (daytime running lights) with some additional wiring attached which dissapeers behind the dash?
??
Surely you can't/don't mean left over ammunition :-?
Yep, mostly fired, some not, the tips seem to be made of plastic with a hole and cross, look like 9mm or 380 short to me, not sure if there blank or for firing paint caps, but the inside of the car is absolutely covered in fluorescent Red and Blue splats all over the place.
Anyway bout my freekng Fog Lamps, reckon someone's had this problem before!, come on spill the beans.
If you get caught in possession of those live rounds without a Firearms Licence with the relevant grant for that type/calibre of ammunition, it would not be good news for you...! There is the risk that they may fall into the wrong hands. You need to drop them off at your local police station, or phone your area's Firearms Licencing Unit, asap.
But moving on back to your question - my last ex-plod (white, was a marked car) had no probs whatsoever with the rear fogs. But when I got this one (another ex-plod in Nocturno Blue - was an unmarked car), none of the rear fogs worked. Sods law, I only found it out on the morning of its MOT...
Changed bulbs etc, but no joy. I was expecting a really complex issue, but it was quite simple in my case (and hopefully yours too!). Unplug the plug that goes into the rear fog-lamp bulb holderon the inside of the boot lid, and check the pins inside the plug.
On mine, there was an excess of solder inside on the pins (where plod had obviously soldered another wire in - when it was decommissioned, they'd just cut their wiring off (which would have been for the Wig-Wags), and shoved the pins back into the plugs - excess solder and all. So when the plug was connected to the bulb holder, it couldn't get a decent connection.
I just stripped the pins back out of the plug, heated them up with my soldering iron and cleaned all the excess solder and left-over Plod wiring off, let the pins cool down again, and then put them back into the plugs. Job done!
Fingers crossed it does the job for you
