crankshaft oil seal -how difficult to do

has any members replaced the front crankshaft oil seal on the bmw engine. appears i need to do mine. there is a good instruction on the range rover link. but i would appreciate & advice from somebody thats actually done the job.  :y

Is this an Omega (2.5TD) Or an actual BMW?

Done loads of oil seals, not on an TD Omega crank though. If there is a separate sleeve like other cars that the seal sits on, when it's removed it usually gives you enough room to use a slim screw driver in to lever the old seal out. Failing that, drill 3 small holes in the face of the seal, screw a self tapper into each hole & use them to pull the seal out with. :y
