Changing the interior colour
« on: 11 January 2012, 08:00:44 »

A fellow OOfer is looking to changing the interior colour of his mig...

Do you change the carpet too or is that a too much pain in the arse job? I've got the cream leather & carpet, would the black leather look "right" with cream carpets still, or would it be best to change the carpet too?

TIA :y

Done this on a member`s car (cream to black). Ideally you need to change (as well as the seats) the following. Pass. glovebox, driver`s cubby hole, doorcards, seatbelts, rear shelf, lower trims, (front kickpanel, sill covers etc) and carpet. Everything`s a doddle Dave

And there was me hoping for a simple of answer of....... just change the seats ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well this will be going on the list of jobs to do this year then!

What about the carpet though, is that an easy task or just time consuming? ???

If the seats and other bits and pieces are already out changing the carpets will take about 5 minutes. :y

Seats out, lower trims out, lower seatbelt mounting undone, carpet`s in two pieces stapled together under seats. Rear piece just lifts out, front piece has two holes in it either side of centre transmission tunnel that hook on clips under console, slight yank and it`s out. When re-fitting just tuck the carpet edge under console

hardest part has got to be the rear parcel shelf, surely.

But - it all depends on how well the change needs to be completed.

if it's just seats then its easy, but if its a whole interior change then it's really quite difficult, extending to parcel shalf, door cards, centre console, cant rail covers, headlining, the list is quite long.

One other thing to bear in mind Dave. Yours being the 3.2 Elite will most probably have the child seat sensor, if you replace with a non-sensor seat you will have to change the main SRS ECU as it`ll be configured for the CSS and I`m fairly sure TechII can`t change it.

Most of the 3.2 Elites had them fitted Dave, should be a sticker on side of seat, or look underneath and if you have a yellow flat rectangular plug about 50mm x 25mm x 6mm connected to the seat module it has a CSS
