i would spare a thought for his wife he beat up

The only news articles I can find say he was arrested on suspicion of assault after a 'furious row' (and, de-arrested shortly afterwards, so not actually removed from his property)

I can't find any references to her being "beaten up"

Perhaps you could enlighten us?

Have you any idea the effect of what happened to this bloke, can have on your mental heath?

I'd like you to back up the words behind your post, please.

Sorry, but that is a hideous statement to make.  >:( >:( >:(

For a start, he was arrested, but not charged, on suspicion of assault after an incident at his home. Do you know the circumstances? Only hours before the arrest he had been having pellets removed from his face and was facing life as a blind person. Who knows how stressed/under influence of medication he was when this "apparent" assault took place?

He was a very brave man who did his best to rebuild his life following the shock and horror of losing his eyesight in a violent manner. Sadly, it appears he was unable to cope with the mental stress. He will always, however, be a fine example of the bravery of many members of our police force and other frontline services.  :y

the fact she was on national tv with a black eye...and she also on i think it was daybreak admitting HE beat her....so because he is injured he can beat who he likes up..and to be fair it was his decsion to become a cop which in todays world is a dangerous job with some roaming the streets

How can any of us rightfully judge someone who has been though this kind of trauma?

I, in common with many others, I'm sure, have friends and relatives in the Police and armed forces. Whilst they have, at times, been put through very challenging ordeals, the thought that any one of them could end up in this position, or worse, fills me with dread, to be frank.

None of us know the whole story here, and, hopefully, none of us will ever be able to say they have walked the mile in this guy's shoes that would perhaps go some way to justify comments such as these.

RIP

Sadly, it seems he could could no longer cope with his circumstances, according to the Telegraph, he was still in a lot of pain from the pellets that couldn't be removed.

I hope none of us have to find out how we would cope in this or any other disabling circumstances.

i started this thread purely to allow anyone wishing to pay their respects to do so.

While I understand this forum promotes free speech, I am personally gobsmacked by the unbalanced, shallow attitude evidenced in a couple of the above posts.

If you wish to be a keyboard warrior or make shallow unfounded comments, as seems the norm these days, can you PLEASE make them somewhere else.

This bloke took a face full of bullets while doing a job which is there to keep the likes of you and me safe. He went through hell as a result.

If all you can do is make narrow minded comments, please make them elsewhere.

Thank you.

Might be a idea if Admin block the General Discussion Area as a whole for a couple of days to let everybody cool down before this forum tears itself apart  ;)
