800lb doesn't seem excessive for something with 12 cylinders (and all ancilliaries)..

I will mostly be getting a lift to the western coast of Wales, picking up an old Jag XJ12 and driving all the way back (hopefully!) with it.

On Sunday .. I may tinker with the MR2 & Omega - the cam covers are really starting to stink (I know, I've been saying that since I bought it!)

800lb doesn't seem excessive for something with 12 cylinders (and all ancilliaries)..

Its one HELL of a weight.......thats 360Kg which is more than twice that of a Rover V8 or Omega V6 and with much less power than two of the afformentioned.

If you consider that you could double the crank length of say a 3.0 V6 (and it would be less than double), double the size of the heads (again its a bit less) and the block (also less). You also only need the single set of ancillaries.

Hence, there a bit porky

You have a point I suppose  I guess I've been ruined already by big ol' V8s - with the FE being a similar capacity (ok, a litre bigger) and ~600lb in iron head form; although I suspect down to maybe 4-500lb with ally heads and a steel rather than nodular iron crank. Which I really must buy.
