Replacement exhaust - Eternalcar?
« on: 04 March 2012, 08:32:47 »

Many moons ago when I had my first V6, the Eternalcar exhaust was fairly cheap and well made - I can't ignore the blowing from mine any more, are there any other recommended manufacturers? I need back box and centre pipes.

I assume a system listed for 3.0 will also fit my 3.2, just cosmetically different at the back?

Yes, the tail pipes are just slightly too short. Easily fixed with some Halfrauds chav mod!

I'm thinking of going to a custom stainless place and having some professionally put on when the time comes for an eternal

I am also looking for a cats back system. I found Eternal car a PITA navigating their Website, but did look at Neucarparts for mine.

Sadly we seem to be down to either the Eternal type systems, or next level up, Jetex aluminised or stainless systems for off the shelf stuff.

I know my little brother would be spitting feathers if he heard anyone recommending Jetex.

He had one put on his AX GT, and always moaned about how gutless it made it. Multiple Jetex agents checked it, said it was fine.  After a year, he couldn't tolerate it any more, ripped it off, binned it, and put on a cheap nasty Timax, and the thing became a pocket rocket again.

I reckon Jetex, like Courtney Sports, have and undeserved good reputation due to heavy advertising in the car mags aimed at chavs.

After over 2yrs on Eternal on my daily ride, I would certainly try them again, even though they are a pain to deal with.

I've yet to here any stainless setup, on any cruising car, that I could live with. Admittedly, many purposely ask it to sound crap, but even those supposedly quite ones sound too droney for me in a motorway cruiser.

I saw a Timax at all parts in slough, having agreed a price over the phone that made it reasonable but still more expensive than eternal, I went to have a look with a view to buying. Took one look and left it where it was. Wealds barely met, with rust already showing around the joins.

Shame nothing needs doing on the MV6, else I'd invite you over to see what Eternal looks like after 2 years...  ...and while you're under there ;D

Not according to members here... No experience myself obviously. I thought we where talking availability, not Chav value. ;D

Anyway. The problem I have with Jetex is the bore size, at 63 mill that's no going to allow the irmscher silencer to fit with its 50.8 bore. They could reduce It down at the end, as they do custom fit as well to an extent, but that would send shock waves back up the exhaust and prevent gasses esaping, I'd expect aloss of power in those circumstances. Rightly or wrongly.

I bought one of these for my MV6 - don't know the technicalities of exhausts but it fitted a treat and no problems running

Put a 2.5 system on a 3.0/3.2?

Back box as I understand is identical, just twin exits on the 3's - Although some people did notice a performance increase going back to a twin exit box after a single exit

Can't see it being any more than placebo...

Recalling Brucie's experience on his 3.2, although I think he said the previous box was shagged  ::)

2.5,3.0,2.6,3.2 mid sections are all the same. 3.0, 3.2 get twin exit box for purely Chav reasons.

H21 back box issue was with hoarse hair type wadding escaping on the new Gm system. Another reason not to go GM. Although I don't need the back box. Gm mid sections alone are over 200 sobs.
