Roadworks are like mushrooms
« on: 05 March 2012, 18:50:14 »

 :D
Oh great,
Mushrooms? yep they come out in the dark.....
Just been out for a drop of milk and bread but had to drive 5 miles cos the bleeding road crews are at it again! Every road but the long way out of the village is up again. What the hell do they find to do cos this is happening every few months? Funny thing is the signs are there and the cones and generator work lights but no human prescence at all! Should I keep watch all night and see if I can find the phantom???????
Anyone got a jetpack for my back?

My daughters school run has been closed for a few days, resulting in a 2 mile round trip turning into a 6 mile city driving trip at rush hour.

On a busy A road near me a 2 mile section was closed for pipe laying at the end of July for 16 weeks. Went past there 2 weeks a go and still closed.  >:( >:( >:(

A favourite of Ashford Borough Council lately seems to be, shutting junction 9 at night. This means you have to travel around 20 miles up the motorway, just to come back into Ashford. This is also made worse by the fact they do not 100% (because I checked every entrance to the M20 possible), put up any road work signs, the only signs you see are when you're about halfway down the junction 10-9 stretch saying the exit is closed. Most annoying at night when you want to get home  >:(.

Same here! The town is in chaos as both main routes out of town Northbound are either closed or traffic light controlled works! Bloody nightmare ;D

They are re-profiling the junction on the shortest route out from home... The diversion is over 20 miles :o :o

So the journey into the nearest town (7 miles) is now about 30 miles :o :o

Fortunately the closure is only between 9am and 4 pm but was only supposed to be 2 days (yesterday and today) but looking at the fact they haven't finished surfacing it and the barriers & signs are all out still I guess it'll be sut tomorrow again ::)

I don't know why they bother posting dates in advance of roads shutting. Often get that on my way to work. The road never shuts on the day it's planned to, meaning I take a detour for nothing, and then, a couple of weeks later, it closes without warning and I'm stuffed. >:(
