Caravan Tyres
« on: 08 March 2012, 07:59:29 »

Are they directional?

Someone told me it's a good idea to swop offside to nearside, and visa versa, every year to even wear.

But, if they're directional, surely you can't do that, as it would reverse the direction.

Not all tyres are directional.

Is there an arrow on the side wall...

... What am I doing? Caravan handling? (Sigh...)

As the suspension guru says, not all tyres are the same. Too early for me for the technicalities of tyres, but as you say some are directional, others have 'outside' on the side of the tyre so as long as it's fitted to the rim correctly, it can go either side of the car/caravan.

Just had another look, there's isn't an arrow, and they don't say outside (unless the outside was fitted on the inside), so, I presume it doesn't matter.

I can't see that swapping them around has much benefit unless your van is a four wheeler which has a slight alignment issues between axles

Nor can I, to be honest.
