Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
Mary Elizabeth Frye

 - Woman is under strict instructions to have the music version of this at my funeral.

My dad died when I was 16, I'm fine 99% of the time but then I find something daft like a note he'd written or an old photo and it sets me off...

Which version have you stipulated ?? My personal favourite is Katherine Jenkins, I think she "enunciates" better than the choir versions ...

Beautiful poem whoever does it

Lost mine 3 years ago, still miss her.
A few months after mum had died, my little girl asked for 20p, when I asked what for, she said she had seen a wishing well and wanted to make a wish. A few moments later she returned and said she had wished Grandma was still alive and here with us.
It does get easier in time, I found the the way for me was to keep busy and keep in touch with freinds and family, but you also need time to greive yourself.

I know how you feel Guy,lost my mum two years ago. It was a mixture of emotions heartbroken to loose mum but glad that her pain and suffering had come to an end. Your mum has left you in this world but remember she will live on forever in your heart.

What a lovely selflless wish for your little girl to make. Bless her. You must be a proud Dad.
