Voted... IMO you should always have a spare, even if it is just for the locks and doesn't have an immobiliser transponder ;)

That's exactly my attitude to spare keys. I've been to far too many lost/stolen/locked in the car that wouldn't be an issue if they'd spent a fiver on a spare.
And having one is no use whatever if it's on the same keyring! Not that anyone here would be so bloody stupid.

Basically why I feel that way... And cars are getting harder to get into "Damage Free" now as well ::)

Why do you think you get two or sometimes three keys with a new vehicle.
Should always have spares :y :y

We have 2 spares, one lives in SWTSMBO hand bag - along with the contents of 75 suitcases, 4 chemists, 2 post offices and a makeup shop - the other stays at home ...  :)

if you going to break a widow always break the big one not the quarter as they are harder to replace.

A spare doesn't need the fob. Now you're just looking at a key and the immobiliser. Or, you could just have the key, doable by any high street locksmith, which will get you in the car and unlock the steering, which will get you out of trouble. And that has got to be worth a few quid.
