I got given a tin of this :




It says on the tin to sit in warm water for half an hour before use but i have no compressor or gun , would one of those plastic pressurised garden hand pumps be ok to use or will it block up

The proper gun isn't far off a "Killaspray" type device. If you've got an old one it might be worth a try. Nozzle might need enlarging a bit. The key to it not bunging up is to keep the wax warm, so stand the spray in a bucket of hot water, and coil the hose up in this between applications.

Arr top tips , thanks kev . Ill be doing the box sections/floor pan/wheel arches and sills . Should be used it all by the time ive done that .

The proper waxoyl sprayer does come with a lance for treating box sections, though.

Bet thats pricey for the sprayer & acc ... ive got a few pump spray bottles so see if i can modify one with a pipe

Oh, yes, at the end of the day, it's a bit of pipe with a nail in the end. Nothing that can't be improvised on the cheap.

Whatever you use, wash it out with white spirit afterwards.

and keep the bottle warm. If the wax oil gets to set in the lance your doomed.

Guess the trick is to use up all i can while its warm in the spray can and keep the top up tin in a bucket of warm water

Thin it down with white spirit by about 10% it'll spray easier if your not using a compressor.
Also fill a plunger oil can with the thinned mix and squirt down between the wheel arch and the inside of the rear wing ,push aside any soundproofing first though. This will slowly bleed down into the arch lip from inside.
To prevent the dreaded sub window seal on the doors rust ,  gently prize a wooden or plastic wedge between the rubber seal and door and whilst moving along the door gently squirt waxoyl between the two to kill or slow down any corrosion .
If you've got an estate place some plasticine under the rear wiper spindle and squirt the mix into the cavity around the spindle until it fills up .

I did this on mine and when the sun came out, the panel got hot and half of the waxoyl came back out again and run down the tailgate.    At least it polishes off easily enough and I'd like to think that it did some good.

Thanks for all the advice  There was me thinking using waxoyl had gone out of fashion , seems quite a few of you have used the stuff which is good . Ive had this can a while now so best to use it up on a car that needs it  just need a decent enough day and ill crack on with it

One thing I should have said.
I recently had all the door cards off to replace the wood effect trim and decided to coat the internal door cavities at the same time.
Well I did and found that where the excess waxoyl runs out of the door drain holes along the bottom the rubber/neoprene  weather seal attched to the sill has warped and distorted due to softening and streching where it came into contact with the fluid.
Not enough to stop it sealing but quite noticeable .
