Also once you add in pads too, not far off trade club prices.

Its around £85 for a set on trade? Looking at £55+ easy after getting pads to go with those eBay discs.

Near £100 for trade club disc/pad set on tc. It's gone up.

Just done the discs on mine. Used Apec discs and Mintex pads. Cost me about 70 quid. Must say though what a transformation but then mine had a inch wide band of scale around the inside face  :-[ :-[ :-[. Bloody smelt bad as well for the first couple of miles

Had no success with Mintex pads on Omega either....

What issues have you had? I always try to use Mintex or EBC. I know there's probably better pads out there but these seem to work well enough. On the GSI Carlie I've currently got EBC yellows front and rear which I used at Marham track day twice without any issues. In fact coupled with synthetic brake fluid and steal hoses no fade all day

In the 8 years I've had my MV6, I've probably had about 4 sets of genuine GM, and 3 sets of pattern.

GM's always changed due to wear and the inside face corrosion problem, but good for a couple of years. None of the pattern ones lasted more than 2 months without warping.

I would class myself as reasonably heavy on brakes... ...pads last about 5k

Think we can put that down as the "understatement of the decade"  ;) . Wow, 5K.

Quite like EBC Redstuff, but won't use on my own cars as it would catch Mrs TB out. Not driven one with Yellows yet.

The (relatively) cheap Mintex ones overheat too easily, and then loose all feel.  TC ones are cheaper, and take more abuse before overheating, and IME, the overheating of these should be taken as a warning, as you normally have a couple of good stops left before the fluid goes.

I'd love to try the OE ones, but the cost prohibits me, unless they last 4 times as long as TC...

EBC seem ok (so far) little difference in feel
£135 for standard disc with green pads.

Tc front axle set is cheaper, at £100 incl vat. With tc pads alone at £14. It's a no brainier really.

Although I want to try oe pads with ebc discs. Might work well. Certainly not a cheap combo though.

If your worried about red stuff catching you out then don't try the yellow!!! Very very wooden until you get them hot. Discs on the Carlie are genuine ones which I've had grooved. Work really well all be it they are a bit noisy. Not the best set up for road use but track work they work great. Years ago me and the wife use to rally a Peugeot 309. Use to do a fair bit on sealed surface (tarmac/concrete surface) WE were sponsored by a local motor factors. WE were using EBC with Alcom 4 pot callipers. There had been a mix up with a order and we had to do a event using green stuff. We covered 60 stage miles and get this took 2 sets of green stuff down to the metal  :o :o but boy she was mustard on the brakes. Wife was driving and are stopping distances were right up there with the group A all sing and dancing Cossies etc. The wife when she competited  use to love red stuff in the end for feel and bite. I only used yellow as stopping nearly two tons of steal from around a 140 to 20 twice in one lap would of killed anything less.

On bikes, black lasted one day. Green less than a week. Red just over a week. HH sintered pads where the muts.

I hope thier car range is not the same, they don't seem to have an HH equivelant.

I've just fitted some Mintex 1144s on the Westfield. The thing'll stand on its' nose right from cold. Incredible amount of bite. :o

The downside is that after about 3-400 miles the alloys are 100% black with brake dust, and that's with just commuting and the odd little blat, on a car that's not heavy on brakes at the worst of times.

They squeal a little too, but they'll be staying (for as long as they last).

Can't see them suiting an Omega. Maybe the 1155 would be worth a try?

EBC brakes.. a few people seem to swear by them, the rest try them and bin them before they're worn. Not tried them myself though.

Pagid RS14/RS15 pads are very highly rated. Not tried them either, largely due to the price. :o

Which brings us back to Chris' point. Trade club pads are cheap and pretty good all round....

Excess dust is not a good sign, obviously. Oe are by far the best pads I've had on an omega for performance. Cost however was fairly apalling.

Some say they can't tell the difference between tc and oe pads. I wonder, if they get the same temp in thier tc pads, I found a noticeable difference no doubt about it.
I also wonder why tc pads need such enooooormous chamfers on them? They remove 1/3 of the pad total area.  :o  ???
