If you can get the prop disconnected I'll be more than happy to tow it back for you on the A frame Dave.

I tried the pre-booked MOT line and didnt get away with it.  Mind you I was driving from north Wales to SE London!   ;D

If its not taxed and tested it can't be towed with its wheels on the road :y

Maybe not, but I'd reckon most coppers with any common sense about them will ignore a car that's being towed & not driven on the road.  :y
I've nicked more than a few disq drivers sat in the towed vehicle doing the steering/braking bit when they have been en route to weigh in their latest treasure.....  :)

That's a bloomin' good offer mate.
Mulling all options over at the moment. It may make more sense just to keep the 2 litre CD  ;D

When sat behind the wheel of the towed vehicle and in control of the steering and brakes then, yes.  :)

You could always book into a series of MOT stations along the route home, not a popular option but it is workable if you get stopped you name the nearest one you are booked into, as to the moral value of this :-X

I suppose I could book it into - or ask the seller to book it into a garage near to where the car is. I could insure it for a day. But then there's the question of tax. If it passed I still couldn't drive it home without risk. If the car failed the mot, I'd be completely screwed.

Hmmmm. D'you know Pete, I never thought of that.
Thing is, that would make the car worth a tad more.
I'd certainly ask more for a car with 12 months test on it.

I'd take the chance on the tax. After all you've just picked it up. If once you get it home you tax it I'm sure your be ok. I remember walking out of the post office and finding a copper stood next to my untaxed car. He ripped in to me like a loon. So I let him get it off his chest and when he paused for air (honestly you would of though I was murderer the way he went off on one) I just held up the tax disc I'd just been in the post office to buy. He turned round and fooked off. No apology nothing. Silly nana

That's what I did with the Jag - it had MOT left to run but no tax, I asked the seller to tax it for me (I sent him a copy of my insurance cert) and viola, legal drive home :y

If the copper had wanted to be funny he could have booked you for not displaying a current tax disc ::)
