Clock symbol on CID missing.
« on: 30 March 2012, 00:37:05 »

Since the clocks changed last weekend I have been living on GMT as the clock has not changed  :(.  I've not seen the clock symbol on the display for a while and the usual trick of tuning to Radio 1 for a bit hasn't worked.  I have a NCDC 2015 + CID.

I think I have the setting enabled for automatic time updating.

Picture of the CID below.

Radio works fine, haven't used the sat nav for a while.  Is it possible the rubber round the aerial base has perished to the point where water has got in and something has corroded?

Any suggestions?

Mine wouldn't do the switch to Summer Time. If I manually set it as soon as it picked up a radio station it switched back. I found you alter the time in half hour increments in the settings menu to account for DST

Isn't the clock symbol to do with ruote guidance in the nav? Ie set motorway only and the click changes to a motorway bridge. Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

He's got a 2015, not a 2013 ;)

Can't remember where, either:
Tuner > Settings
or
BC > System Settings

there is a setting for auto adjusting clock.

I listen to some cool relaxing classic FM for a bit and it resolves itself. Never had to manually change it but never delved into the settings to far either....

Have checked and it was already set.

It's under BC > Settings > System Settings > Time/Date > Autom. Time Correction.

For now I've manually changed the time and listening to Classic didn't help, but it's not the end of the world.

Try unset and then reset.

Do you get a good GPS signal?

Will try the unset and reset and run with it unset for a bit before I set it again.  As for GPS signal, sat nav has always behaved, but having checked the manual it doesn't show a picture of the CID so I'm not sure whether the picture of the satellite in the centre bottom of the CID is an indication of the signal strength.

yeah, 2015 doesn't display it. Possible to find it in diags mode, but if it works, thats good enough.

Is RDS on?

Ah yes, I think the 2013 does show it at the top right, I remember now, whereas the 2015 + Telematics shows the GSM network and strength.

RDS is on.

Out of curiosity I checked the sat nav on the way home tonight, and guess what, it thinks I'm driving around Southampton, when I'm not.

A search on here shows that it's time to check the nav diagnostic mode, reset it, check the connection behind the HU and the aerial base... :P

Well a reset didn't do anything, but entering the diagnostic mode showed the 00/00 for satellites so time to take the car apart and find out if it's the aerial/cable/connection to the cage/hu...

Remember that if the unit is using the RDS system that not all station transmit time info, try a listen to Radio 1 for a few minutes.
