jaguar xf is sh..y
« on: 30 March 2012, 00:45:25 »

Just heard my friend has problems again with his jag XF 2.7d
First his handbrake went dead and was repaired under waranty.
Now the car overheated as he was on a trip.
Supposedly the fan died and the car overheated in town traffic.
Of course this hapened just after the waranty expired
It also lost coolant, but according to jag dealer it is not loosing it anymore (without them doing anything  :o
There were also some more problems but cant remeber which exactly.
Pretty lousy car it seems, he bought it new and has regreted choosing it instead of A5 audi

Sorry that your friend is having problems. But if I had a choice between an XF and a A5 the XF would win everytime.
Regarding audi have you read this thread http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=43952.0 make some interesting reading regarding how poor they are. Also look closely at how long the problem has gone on for.

XF all the way.

I think one of the reason why British cars fell out of favour to the German rivals was build quality.
So more and more people stopped buying them, which in turn meant that they would have to 'cut corners' and cost save.
This just made it worse.

And to be honest, Audi, BMW and Mercedes have poor reliability and quality (most models, not all) these days anyway, if you take customer survey results.

Jaguar Land Rover have been given a life line now and are selling huge in Asia as well as the rest of the world.
In my opinion the new designs they are coming out with rival and even better the Germans. All they needed was the money.
S class, 7 Series and the A8 have nothing on the XJ.

My wife tried to get me off the bikes by promising me a XF. I went with the idea until I found out I had to buy it myself ::) ::)

Yes but the servicing will hit you hard in the wallet.  £300+ for an oil change.........

Even more reason to DIY oil changes, surely no harder than V6 oil change? Would usual GM 10/40 go in?  :-\

Nope, the dpf requires a very expensive type of oil (cant remember exactly which) plus any DIY on the car seriously increases depreciation.

I did'nt know it needed super expensive oil, that really does reverse the mpg savings!

I know Audi has problems, VW also especially with 2.0Tdi engines which are dreadfull.
But to my knowledge this is not the case with bigger 3.0Tdi.
Also mentioned A3 is not an Audi it is a Golf in slightly fancier clothing.
I do like the looks of an XF it is beautiful especially inside but what is going on with my friends car is awful.
And service is really expensive plus the only authorized dealer here is at least to say BAD.

Low sulphur stuff I think which is dear at the dealers but cheaper elsewhere
