Oo er missus  ;D ;D ;D

I think you missed off the c in crude oil!

I don't think there will be another Argentinian invasion even though the Argentinians have a lot of support in South America. If there is it will be a very different war to 30 years ago. We only have about a third of the navy ships we had then and of course no aircraft carrier (though our good friends the French would of course lend us theirs). Still we have four fighter planes on the islands so could hold them at bay for a while :y

I was actually on the quay in Marchwood when the piper was playing bringing the dead home. Outside the Marchwood complex there was dozens of hearses. I was involved with using helicopters to combat the old MM38 Exocets. (Kindly sold to the Argies by our French friends) :(

If the argies wanted it now it would be easy for them. Invade at 3 am on any Saturday or Sunday morning when everyone is tanked up

My eldest son is out there at the moment. There are 1200 military personel there nowdays. So much of the island is still cordened off because of landmines. One job he has had to do is renew the barbed wire around the mine fields as it has rusted away. He went out just before christmas and has been sunburnt twice. Keith B

Yes! we had a boxlike affair strapped to the nose of the helicopter. When the radar on the ship picked up an Exocet coming in, the ship turned off her radar as around 6k metres as I recall the Exocet changed to her own radar system. This was the old 650mph jobbie but still damn fast. Two helicopters took off bloody quick or were on station and and went fore and aft of the ship facing the incoming. The Exocet now sees through its radar that it has a ship possibly half a kilometre wide and 10 to 20 metres high. Hopefully the damn thing misses the ship. Thats the way it was. Belt and braces stuff. Hasn't changed much has it? We were lucky to get away with it. Thats all I can say!  :y

Doesn't matter who or what is out there, if everyone is tanked up in their pits. RAF police attack dog handlers meant to be patrolling airfield zonked out

Is that the cunning plan where you both climb up together at the last minute and hope the missile follows you up so it screws up its own rad alt and breaks lock ?
