Retards again
« on: 02 April 2012, 18:29:40 »

I went to Liverpool today to see my mum. The M62 is a royal PITA at the moment, (well, actually, for the past twelve months)with 50 mph speed restrictions for a 15-20 mile stretch this side of the hill.
Average speed cameras are in place and the amount of idiots speeding between them and jamming on as they approached was unbelievable. Then there are the ones who want to race you. If you're doing 51, I'm going to do 52. Whatever speed you do I'm going exactly 1 mph faster. ;D
Then the ones who just don't care and go past you at 60.
On the local news earlier this years it was reported that the fines/points issued was running into tens of thousands!
Nice little earner.

I was strongly considering a rant/moan thread of my own today. But as yours is here...

I get an ever increasing feeling of utter despair while driving these days. Some recent incidents...

Approaching a contra flow. White lines painted black, new lanes that use the hard shoulder marked out with day glow temporary cats eyes. Women in BMW fails to follow the new day glow markings sticking rigidly to lane 1 instead of the marked lane 1 that is the hard shoulder...and cuts up lane 2 forcing traffic into lane 3, cars swerving all over the place.

Next day a truck does the exact same thing.

Red BMW in heavy ish traffic in lane3 blacked out rear windows. Traffic thins out past a major jcn. But red BMW doesn't notice. STILL doing 60 in lane 3 with a massive queue still behind. Lane 2 has cleared off up the road. Lane 1 has all taken the exit and we're left with this idiot still doing 60 in lane 3 miles past the jcn. everyone came off at.

Some undertake from miles back, some flashing lights. Arms waving. Red BMW is oblivious. As I'm being tail gated I move to lane 1 then draw level with him. He's on the phone. But not holding it to his ear, he's holding it in front of his mouth on speaker phone, as if to say look everyone  I have a phone too. Here it is. While he's chatting away.

Total bell end!

A few years ago my mate was involved in an accident in a speed resticted contraflow. Woman in Audi decided she wanted to be in front of his lorry. Cones coming accross the road, him at the 40mph and her at 50. Her rear bumper catched in the end of his as she had left it so late. spun round and he then "t" boned her. audi spun 180, he then "t" boned the other side sending her spinning again, a head on and then a light touch up her rear end for good measure. After she got out, "It was all my fault, sorry" she cried. Witness behind in van says I knew what was going to happen so I held back and watched, excellent! Police arrived and charged her with dangerous, careless, speeding, undue care and attention and a worn tyre. My mate in the clear after tacho check showed him at 39mph. Took his cab off the chassis one side though.  Keith B

I thought I knew where that story was going .. but no, there was a twist at the end! ;D Maybe he assumed if the phone wasn't to his ear then he couldn't be done for using a hand held phone .. ;D ;D

As I said on another thread, much to the dismay of some who felt the need to try their soapbox, we have bred an entire generation of complete, utter, thick, self-centred idiots, because we pander to them.

If you lack the common sense to not cross a railway line when the lights/sirens are going, or not to have open topped containers full of flammable liquids near and open flame, well, sorry, you don't deserve to live. And one less carrier of the stupid gene is a benefit to humanity.

At risk of being retarded, I believe it is the mean speed that we should be interested in when traversing a set of average speed cameras.  :P

Ooh, good point. I feel a letter to the highways agency is in order, just to clarify matters. It does only say Average on the signs. :D
