Melton Mowbray
« on: 04 April 2012, 15:26:09 »

I was wondering if MM has any form of attraction/visitor centre related to its famous pies?

Fancied a run out this weekend as it's not too far from us and was looking for any suggestions from those in the know.

Thanks - Rob

Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe is the only one I know, and probably the only reason I'd go to Melton. That said the Vale of Belvoir is nice depending on the weather!!! Today would be a flask of tea in the car!!! ;D ;D

Careful I'm a pensioner Rob ;D ;D

No you don't, funnily enough my next door neighbour was chucking a load out the other day so I grabbed a large one on the basis " That you never know" No doubt it will stay in the garage for 10 years and  then SWMBO will want to keep it despite is never being used ;D ;D

I have two, and I am a mere 49. They come in very handy when watching my son play rugby or football in the middle of winter :y

Nope.

Although Tuesday is Market day with loads of stalls for the shoppers and plenty of cattle making thier last trip.

There is a museum but there is bugger all in it.

The pork pie shop is nothing interesting.

The antique market is very good if you like that sort of thing , usually pick up a pork pie/sausage rolls/cake/pasties in the town to help the diet  :P and sometimes visit the motorcycle shop  8)

Had a reasonable curry there a month back and bought some seriously good pork pies but found break all else to do. ;D

Pubs were deserted on a Saturday night. Was like a ghost town. :-\
