electric sunroof problem
« on: 05 April 2012, 11:49:09 »

Hi guys

I have a very strange problem, My sunroof has a mind of its own,
it randomly opens and closes when im driving along, it was so bad last week when it was raining i had to pull over and turn the ignition of and on to get it closed.. then repeats again when driving.

any one had this problem before. as i cant go out when its raining,
did ask a mate who just told me to get a head umbrella. Might look abit of a d!ck driving along though.

Loads of threads about the 'phantom sunroof' and also a guide re cleaning the mechanism / disc. May be a new PCB is needed though.

There's a guide about cleaning the magnet disk at http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90674.msg1155649#msg1155649 but I don't think that's causing the "phantom roof" problem. You have to disassemble the actual control potentiometer and clean the slideway there as well as respring the metal contacts. I have not done this myself yet but I will in the next few days. It should be an easy job.

Here are a few pictures:
