Another use for 10-40 semi synth
« on: 01 April 2008, 17:23:12 »

Ive been busy today replacing fence posts......old ones had rotted and got blown down in the recent gales....

Anyway last job of the day was to saw the posts down to about 3 inches above the top of the panels.......

So top tip.....as i found out.....pour some of the stuff over the saw blade......doesnt half make the saw blade a lot easier to pull back and push forward.......cutting them was like a knife thro butter  :y

i would imagine that the viscosity would have an effect, personally i would go for a 0-30, better cold start protection  :y

Should have stood them in a mix of creasote and old oil before planting them as it would stop them rotting as quickly.

Nope I havent......but these ones shouldnt go rotten so quickly.....tho the rotten ones lasted 15years+ , they were planted directly into concrete........the new ones ive put in, ive used repair spikes.
