My 'new' car
« on: 10 April 2012, 19:30:43 »

I got a phone call first thing this morning from the car sales place I placed my deposit at. Bad news he said, we had a break-in last night, they cropped the padlock on the main gate & the only car they nicked was yours!! (The garage is in Maghul - Liverpool  ::) ::) ::)??? ??? ??? He was very apologetic & said all the right things, but the more I think about it ............ the more I'm not sure  :-\ :-\ :-\ I can't give a reason why he might be spinning a yarn, but if you were nicking a car, would you nick a 56 plate R Class?
So the search begins again .............  :( :( :(

presumably you got the deposit back in full??

sounds like someone offered them £50 more than you, in cash on the spot, and they took it.

That's what it sounds like to me, but I paid the full screen price . The only thing I stipulated was that I wanted a second key ........ it only had one.

I was at work till 5 so didn't get a chance to check up, but said he'd put it back on my debit card. I know where they are if it's slow in re-appearing.  :y :y

Maybe one of the garage lads took it for a test drive and bent it ?

I'm sure it will ................ eventually. I'd looked for weeks already, unfortunately, unlike a Vauxhall Omega Elite that has a limited options list, these R Class are all different, so have this, some have that etc etc  :(

That sounds more like it..

Still, not as suspect as the call a friend of mine got after he ordered a brand new (at the time) Toyota MR2 from the main dealer. Come delivery day "Erm, terribly sorry Sir but there's been a slight accident with your new car and we won't be able to hand it over to you today," says the dealer. "Oh, what happened?" he says, thinking a scratch or ding.

"It was reversed off the top of the transporter," says the dealer, "the ramps were't down. It's about 3' shorter than it should be now.."

He was telling the truth, too.. ;D

That's a big disappointment Andy without doubt; hope you get something else sorted before too long. :y

I'm afraid I'd be looking at the dealer through slit eyes in these circumstances. :(
