The Green Deal

I happen to have double glazing, loft insulation and cavity wall insulation. However, suppose you are poor, or unemployed, or a pensioner, and your boiler croaks. Finding the money to have a new one may be a real problem, but on top of that, you may be forced by law to carry out additional energy conservation measures for which, if you do not have the money, you would be obliged to take out a loan. The claim is that the loan would be covered by savings on energy - except it won't be.  :( >:(

This government acts so stupidly it must have a death wish. ::) ::) ::) ::)

So the boiler packs up in January and it's minus 15 and snowing!  You eventually manage to get hold of a plumber to come and look at it and he tells you it's breaked and time for a new one!  :'( He say's " I've one in stock and I could do it tomorrow, but we'll have to get the council inspector round first to see what other improvements can be done to save energy, when you get the go ahead give me a ring and I'll come round and fit the new boiler."  You phone the councils new Energy Saving Department (which has just created 275 jobs in admin and inspection and spent £200m on a new call centre) and explain the situation to the nice young lady, that you have no hot water or heating and you need a new boiler ASAP.  She replies cheerily " No problem, we'll get someone round to do an inspection. Uuuuum, how about 24th March? What's best for you, morning or afternoon?"  :o >:(

They are following the last Socialist Government in Spain who went all out backing Green Industries, saying this was the way forward with a new green economy.

Well we can see how well that has worked. Latest unemployment figures, show it is up again at 23.4%, their economy is contracting fast, than an anorexic's stomach, where they are now in a permanent depression, with Spanish bond yields at 6% and climbing, I think they maybe the first of many New Green Economy country bankruptcies.

Who the hell do the ConDems think they are, FORCING people to take out loans and have non-cost effective energy saving measures done to their house. Even the Stazi and KGB never managed things like this.  >:( >:( >:(

To me this just confirms that UK Government / EUSSR is effectively a dictatorship legitimized, by allowing you to put a cross on a piece of paper every 5 years, after presenting you with a piece of fantasy called a manifesto, which the moment they get in power they dump and do whatever they please, which is basically lifting as much money as they can of you in the form of taxes, while removing freedoms, which we've had since Magna Carta in the name of terrorism, climate change etc....  >:( >:( >:(

There you go I've fixed that for you. So we can keep timescales in prospective.  ;)

Thanks Rod, my little work of fiction needed a dose of reality!  :y

The other totally daft thing is that rural properties will no longer be able to install oil fired or LPG boilers.  It has to be either wood pellet or ground source heat pumps!!!  ::)
