Right, following the forum on here on how to do it, I've stripped my 2.5 v6 down to gain access to the rocker cover, as my passenger one is leaking

Anyway I've bought genuine rocker gaskets, sealant and o rings from my local dealer. However forgot to get the inlet gaskets for the other parts I've had to remove. I was wanting to get it all finished today. Is it possible to reuse what I have or will I need new ones??

you can get away with not replacing inlet manifold gaskets, but they should really be replaced at some point 

Its also doing the cam cover gaskets on both banks at the same time

You only need the gaskets you have bought unless any of the others are damaged

Did think about doing the other side while it was stripped but it's another £50 which I haven't really got at the min. Think I'm gonna have to chance it. At least I know how to strip it now

How easy is a Cambelt change? I did one on my Mgf when the head gasket went, but never tried on a V6

Don't know where in North Wales you are but i'm in Chester. If you want a crack at your cambelt i've got the proper tools and don't mind checking it before you reassemble

I'm only in colwyn bay so not far from you. Need to sort out a gen vauxhall kit first, then I'll decide do I have a go lol. Thanks for the offer of tools, may take you up on that

Contitech are just as good and a lot cheaper

Will check out these contitech kits. Was going to do water pump at same time too so guessing that's fairly straightforward. Access looks much easier than in the back of my Mgf

Its always worth changing the water pump at the same time

Where's the best place to get the contitech stuff from? The car needs it doing soon as its on 86k miles and was last done at 48. I'd better get saving the pennies and not get distracted buying irmscher grilles and leather interiors :s Ohhh too late, I bought them

Its probably worth doing the crank pulley seal as well when your doing the timing belt as it's cheap and at 86k will probably start leaking at some point soon.....

Crank seal will only really leak if you put metal cam covers on

and it is a 'mare of a job to undo the crank pulley bolt and torque it up again afterwards.

You will need a 250 ft-lb torque wrench and some means of stopping the crank from turning. I don't know of anyone who has done it properly without having the engine out of the car (cue for posts about windy guns............)

Been there, done that. Had a leaking crank seal. Was obviously replaced once before. The reason for leak was that the small ring/spacer had been scratched and there was a chip which had damaged the seal.

I had to make a tool to keep the crank from turning. I made it of a steel U-shaped bar (only which was on hand) cut and drilled it to fit crank holes and short enough to fit under A/C piping bracket (or something similar, but thete is an obvious point where to put this new made tool)
