Air Con now working ish!!
« on: 15 April 2012, 17:00:14 »

OK...

Bought myself a can of ez-chill (£20 ebay!)

Thought i'd try and fix the a/c on the beast, connected up the refrigerant and started pumping only to find a hole where a bracket reaches across from part of the multiram system and holds onto the a/c pipe going up from the low pressure port.. as per this pic

I've used some stop leak and sealed the hole in the alloy pipe and recharged the system, a/c compressor kicked in as I topped up and all seems to be working...

However, doesn't seem to be that cold...

Im thinking realistically the ac hasn't working for probably 2 years so it may need a system vac then re-gas??

Thoughts?

i was using them cans to fill mine up it takes a couple you need an inline pressure gauge or bang .my air con man told me its not just pressure but gas content try somewhere like slow fit the machine will check for leaks if you have a leak no charge but then get someone to do it propley.

Forget DIY a/con solutions mate - waste of money - a/con requires finite amount of gas (plus no leaks) to even begin to work properly.

Follow your own advice highlighted above ;)

Just to confirm :)

Kwik Fit did the A/C today - working perfectly now so got it all fixed for £49 and some leak fix from a mate, i might report back in a month or so and say its not working again but hey ho might be a cheap fix....
