Bloody hell mate, I'm 66 and can just remember carbs 

Now DCOEs - they were decent carbs once you got the jets sorted 

  My Moto X bike still has a carb. Makes life 'interesting' when the needle gets stuck.  .

On a 4 bank the needle seat and valves are a pita to get to esp if they haven't been undone in 10 yrs  oh for fuel injection

No problem on a YZ. You can do a full overhaul on the carb in about ten minutes.
