I changed mv MV6 a few weeks back, I'm doing the Elite tomorrow if I get time.
Rob says estate is same as saloon, my two are saloons.
It's quite straightforward, and use of a creeper will make it much easier!
Jack up, get on stands. Chock the front wheels well, as obviously your handbrake won't be in use. When car in air, release handbrake to 'fully down' position. It's easier I find to take the wheels off. Don't want to state obvious but make sure car is secure before you stick your body under it.
You need to take off the exhaust heat shields (4, 2 on each side). You will see the compensator bar where the main cable attatches to the two other cables in the prop shaft tunnel. Take note of how far the nut is screwed on here. Unscrew the nut and remove the thread off the main cable out of the compensator bar. On the wheel end, remove the h/b return spring on each side. Remove the cable from the lever thing that sticks out of the drum (it might be corroded on a bit - a little penetrating spray/wiggling/bashing will help). Now remove the handbrake cable assembly from the car by routing it through the exhaust/around chassis etc. You wil see where it needs to go. There are plastic clip things that it pops into - just un pop it.
Refit is a reverse of this. Making sure the nut on the thread is tightened the same distance as before so the handbrake is at the same position.
You can then adjust it according to the guide
