I had to send the tax disc from my bike back for a refund yesterday even though I didnt want to.It hasnt been insured since the end of last month and as I dont intend to insure it I cant have it taxed either,it needs to be sorned which means cashing in the tax disc apparently. A rather ludicrous situation imo.

I nice little earner for DVLA too with all the bits of unused month cashed in.  >:( Another example of hitting everyone with a big stick instead of targeting those that drive uninsured ............ but there again, as the fines for doing so are so p*** poor, I'm not sure why they even bother with them either.  :-\

Now got the added problem of selling a bike which is on SORN, so no test rides etc.I I had been able to leave it taxed, buyer could just sort insurance and ride away.It beggars belief,it really does. >:(

Call DVLA and tell them. Ask what to do next. Best to avoid all the ducking and diving, as in the long run is usual more painful

Yes I would agree with that - whether or not Cav9's daughter is in possession of the relevant registration document - this shows willing to have the matter sorted out.

Just Tax it or Sorn it now, (do it on line if the logbook is up to date).
1. Best case your hear nothing.
2. Middle case your get a £80 fine which is £40 if paid early.
3. Absolute Worst case, your get the fine and have to pay back tax from the day you bought.

I agree, I have our old Mig on the drive, taxed till the end of the month but been on 30 day insurance policy, last couple months and will renew tomorrow, yet the car has never turned a wheel in 3 months, because it is to be sold I felt it better to keep it taxed, will be sorn and scrapped if I still have it at the end of this month... ::) ::)I is partly my own fault, I have delayed in getting my reg no off, done that tonight, put it on the new Mig so old one ready to go............log book only arrived today, apparently you can not sell a car during a cherished number transfer until you get the new log book...... ::) ::)

I printed a transfer document that I had taken off line, filled it in and took it to the local DVLA office, in and out in 10 minutes - went mid month though..... :D :D
