Our local council removed a roundabout because it said it could not cope with the traffic.

Replaced it with traffic lights.

Result, tailbacks in busy periods for about a mile.

Pre-traffic lights, no tailbacks!

We had the same AA, Local council spent £160k installing traffic lights where a mini roundabout was just round the corner from me......result was bigger delays.....they even had a guy there during rush hour for weeks fiddling with the timing on the lights, trying to reduce the queues.

In the end they spent another £160k and took them out! and put the mini roundabout back!

Last year the re-surfaced our street, causing parking problems, tailbacks, and temporary traffic lights.  :o

Last month they dug-up the far side of the street, 'urgent electrical work', causing parking problems, tailbacks, and temporary traffic lights.  :o

This month they are digging-up our side of the street, 'urgent water works', causing parking problems, tailbacks, and temporary traffic lights.  :o

It gets very eerie now on weekends, the silence is killing me, I got used to the sound of diggers breaking tarmac...  ;D
